Environmental Licenses and Permits Overview

Certain types of businesses must obtain specific licenses or permits from the New Mexico Environment Department. This requirement includes businesses that:

  • Handle or produce food;
  • Install septic systems;
  • Install and maintain petroleum tanks;
  • Feature a swimming pool;
  • Perform medical imaging or radiation therapy;
  • Maintain public water systems;
  • Generate toxic waste; or
  • Produce regulated air emissions.
